This is in reference to the April 9 article “Hepatitis C victim lashes out at CMMC.”

I just want to make sure I understand this. By his own admission, 42-year-old Raymond Berube’s life was saved 16 years ago, in 1988, by the health care professionals of Central Maine Medical Center. Three people were killed in the car that he was driving, and he was in a coma for six months. I want to repeat this: His life was saved by the professionals at CMMC while three companions were killed.

The test to detect hepatitis C in blood wasn’t even available until 1992. Now he wants Central Maine Medical Center to pay for his care instead of Medicaid, which has been charged $60,000 to treat him.

Is there something wrong with this picture? His life was saved. Three others have been dead for 16 years. Medicaid is paying for his care.

Instead of protesting, I think he should thank the health care professionals of CMMC, along with the taxpayers of America, for his blessings.

The Sun Journal shouldn’t give credence to his tactics.
