RUMFORD – River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition will sponsor a Prevention topic: “Positive Youth Development” from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Sam’s Italian Sandwich Shop on Route 2, in the second floor in the Community Room. It will focus on Linking Youth with Elders. All community members interested in learning more about the work of Communities for Children and Youth are being urged to attend. The Rumford cluster covers: Greater Farmington, Wilton, Greater Rumford area, Rangeley, Weld, Carthage, Western Maine Mountains. Free workshop

MEXICO – Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community is offering a free workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 22, at the University College at Rumford/Mexico on Brown Street. SAT prep classes

MEXICO – Region 9 Learning Center will offer an Scholastic Aptitude Test prep class for high school students from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, April 27, 28 and 29. The test is May 1. Instructor Greg Winchell will focus on test strategies, following test directions, and will have many samples of test-like questions and problems. Space is limited to 15 students. Cost will be $20.
