I am responding to the letter titled “Wise spending” by Bruce Wotton (April 14).

First off, Lincoln Street Radiator was owned by my late father, Richard Libby, who passed away while in the middle of heated negotiations with the city of Lewiston for his property. My father’s business was not for sale. My father was quite satisfied with the location of his business, and when he was made aware that the city of Lewiston intended to take his business and relocate it for the second time in approximately five years to make way for their Gateway “vision” by reading it in the paper, he was less than thrilled, to say the least.

So before the people of the city of Lewiston think that Lincoln Street Radiator is getting anything more than they deserve, think about the fact that my father’s business was never for sale in the first place.

Why doesn’t someone ask the current owners of VIP how much they would be willing to sell their property for, especially seeing how it isn’t for sale? I’m quite sure it would be a higher price than what the city is compensating my brother for.
