Conservatives have been accused of seeking to “put bias in the Constitution” by endorsing an amendment that would define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. This is not true.

Gay marriage has never been a constitutional or civil right in America – or any other civilized nation. Those who support the amendment aren’t trying to deprive homosexuals of any legal protections they currently enjoy as human beings living in America. Instead, they are trying to prevent rogue judges from creating new “rights” out of thin air.

Yelling “discrimination” is a strategy liberals use any time they can’t fight with fact and truth to scare voters. They also have argued that gay marriage is a civil rights issue akin to race, color or gender, which is not a choice of the person.

Amendment opponents have also turned to an emotional argument in asking “How does one couple’s gay marriage threaten anyone’s heterosexual marriage?”

This question misses the point. The goal of these activists is the revision of national policy to say that gender, especially in child-rearing, is inconsequential, even though research indicates children do best when raised by a married mother and father.

We must not fall for these manipulative arguments. We must stand firm for the sanctity of marriage. For the sake of our children and marriage, let us stand up to the propaganda and support the federal marriage amendment.
