Health Plan Scam

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – State officials are warning residents about a health plan scam.

Attorney General Peter Heed and Insurance Commissioner Roger Sevigny say they’ve noticed an increase in potentially misleading or deceptive ads for discount health insurance. Sevigny said the programs are not insurance policies because all they offer is the possibility of some sort of discount. Customers still have to pay their medical bills.

They say the warning signs include claims of extremely broad coverage, that everyone is eligible to enroll and that automatic payment is required through a credit card or checking account.
