BETHEL – The Rape Education And Crisis Hotline will hold its sixth annual spring benefit on Sunday, May 2, at the Bethel Inn and Country Club. For the past five years, REACH has offered an afternoon of entertainment for supporters.
This year’s theme is “REACH Out – A Musical Journey” and guest speaker will be musician Michael Skinner. The event will also include food, a silent auction and a fashion show.
Skinner is a professional guitarist and drummer from Manchester, N.H., who has been advocating for a less negative picture of what mental health consumers have to offer society. He donates his time as a professional guitarist and drummer to fund-raising events, especially those sponsored by organizations raising money to address mental health-related issues.
Skinner released an album, “Train of Tears,” last year. Part of the proceeds go to benefit the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of New Hampshire. Skinner is also president of the Consumer Advisory Council to the Disability Rights Center, as well as an active member of the Coalition on Family Law and Mental Illness. Skinner co-chairs the Manchester chapter of NAMI-NH with Nancy McGuire.
Tickets can be purchased at the Bethel Inn and Country Club, the Bridgton and Oxford Wal-Mart branch of Norway Savings Bank. Tickets are $25, with a portion of the sales benefiting REACH, the sexual assault crisis and support services center serving Oxford County and the towns of Harrison and Bridgton since 1982.
Services include a 24-hour hotline, 1-800-871-7741, individual support and support groups and accompaniment throughout the medical and legal process for victims and survivors of sexual assault/abuse. All services are free.
