POLAND – Michelle Robb racked up seven strikeouts and walked only two, while allowing only two runs as Greely pulled a victory from the jaws of defeat, downing Poland 6-2 Thursday afternoon.
Kelli O’Connor was cruising for the Knights, striking out seven and not allowing a run in the first six innings.
When the top of the seventh started, it appeared Poland would come away with an upset win, but it wasn’t a day to take anything for granted.
After getting the first batter out, the flood-gates opened, and didn’t shut again until six Greely runners crossed the plate. The Poland girls committed five errors in the inning and Greely (4-0) took advantage of each one. Robb then closed the door on the Knights in the bottom of the inning and secured the win.
Robb helped her own cause, picking up two hits on the day. Courtney Clark tallied two hits for Poland (3-2).
