Pitcher John Maine keeps Portland at bay with seven strikeouts.

BOWIE, Md. (AP) – John Maine gave up two hits and struck out seven and the Bowie Baysox beat the Portland Sea Dogs 5-3 on Sunday.

Maine (3-0) allowed one run in 5 1-3 innings pitching for the Baysox, who scored four runs in the first inning.

After one out, Jose Morban singled, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch by Portland starter Ryan Cameron (0-1), who then walked Tony Mota and Walter Young.

Morban scored when ball four to Young went to the screen.

Another walk and hit batter allowed Mota to score, making it 2-0. Bowie scored another two runs when Woody Cliffords hit a single.

The Sea Dogs scored three runs in the sixth inning with a two-run homer by Jeff Bailey.
