BRUNSWICK – Doris A. Mitchell, 82, formerly of 181 Fairview Ave. Auburn, died Saturday afternoon at Mid Coast Hospital.
She was born in Providence, RI. Oct. 21, 1921,the daughter of James and Alice Ackroyd Burgess and attended Rhode Island schools.
She married Alfred Mitchell on Sept. 30, 1944. He died Nov. 30, 1998.
She worked as an office assistant for Amica Insurance, and Dunlap Insurance and more recently as a crossing guard for the City of Auburn prior to her retirement.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, and enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, traveling and snowmobiling.
She is survived by daughter, Karen Shufeldt and grandson, Samuel Shufeldt both of Brunswick.
