LIVERMORE – It will cost a bit more to be buried in Livermore from now on as selectpersons agreed to increase the cost of a one-grave lot from $100 to $200. Each additional adjacent lot is still $100.

The board acted on a recommendation from the Cemetery Committee that was represented by Dennis Stires. He noted that lots in neighboring towns were much higher and the increase would bring Livermore more in line.

In other business, road foreman Bert Bryant reported a 40 mph sign had been posted on Gibbs Mill Road, in answer to a request.

He and Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub also reported on a water problem at the Center Hill portion of River Road that was done last summer.

Bryant will draw up a plan of work for the crew this summer since the ditching work on Sanders Road will be contracted out. Lester Donahue has given a two-week notice for ending his 20-hour-a-week position on the crew as he has full-time work elsewhere this summer.

Code Enforcement Officer Richard Marble reported he has sent a notice of violation of the dangerous building law and the creation of an illegal lot to the representative of the owner of Lakeshore Motel.

He also sent a consent agreement requiring them to repair or remove the structures on Lot 8 (motel portion) by July 12. Repair of the buildings would include the removal of all mold, rotten wood, musty bedding, rotten floor covering, broken windows and doors and repair of the roof.

The illegally created lot must also be recombined with the parent parcel by July 12.

A letter of complaint has been received about a manure pile in the area that is contaminating Bartlett Pond.

Schaub reported that Darryl Brown is available to moderate town meeting on Thursday, June 10, so that was set as the date for the annual session, although Selectperson Tom Berry said he had been asked to change it to Saturday. Voting will be June 8.

The Historical Society will drill a new well on the Town Commons to serve its new quarters in the old Reading Club building and will be certain the well head is underground so people visiting will not run into it.

Attorney Lee Bragg is drawing up the Batten Road agreement approved at the special town meeting April 7 and hopes to have it ready within a few weeks.
