LIVERMORE FALLS – The World War II Remembrance committee will host a program honoring WWII veterans on May 29 at Livermore Falls High School gym.

An estimated 494 WWII veterans live in the Fayette, Jay, Leeds, Livermore and Livermore Falls area.

After a lunch for veterans, who are invited to bring a guest, a broadcast of the dedication ceremonies of the national World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., will start at noon. The dedication is at 2 p.m. All members of the community are invited to show their support.

All WWII veterans from the area are invited to participate and are asked to contact one of the commanders listed below to reserve room for themselves and a guest at the lunch. The meal will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the high school. The commanders need to know the name of the veteran, whether there will be one or two for lunch and the number from the family who will attend the dedication program upstairs, the town the veteran resides in and what branch of service he served in.

Contacts are: Dick Therrien, Am Vets, 897-4112; Palmer Herbert, American Legion, 897-2859; Neree Simoneau, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 897-5112.
