LIVERMORE FALLS – The Town Office will be open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28. Each month the office remains open one evening for residents to do regular business.

Lodge meeting

LIVERMORE – Charity Rebekah Lodge of Livermore Falls will meet Wednesday, April 28, at its hall, the Ralph Wright Memorial Building. Refreshments will be served at 12:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 1:30 p.m. This will be Food Cupboard Day with Mother Hubbard, Hilda Corkum, in charge of the program. Members are reminded to bring items for the food cupboard. Perky Bangs and Roberta Moulton are in charge of refreshments. The date of the official visitation of the assembly warden has been changed to May 12 and the date of the district meeting changed to May 22.

Coffeehouse Night

LIVERMORE FALLS – A Coffeehouse Night will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Livermore Falls High School in celebration of National Library Week and National Poetry Month, sponsored by the Library Media Center and student library aides. Students and staff will be invited to share a favorite poem or musical selection. The band, Will Play for Food comprised of students Andre Mercier, Andrew Moreau, Jacob Landry and Nick Allen, will be featured. Coffees and other beverages and desserts will be available; donations will be accepted to help cover expenses. Door prizes will be offered for those participating in the program. Coffeehouse Night is open to all students, staff, families and community members. Admission is free.

Sale set

PHILLIPS – The Shared Ministry Women are planning a jumble sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Phillips Community House. The sale will include household articles, new and used items and gifts. There will be no food or clothing. Sale items sale may be left at the Community House from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday and Friday, April 29 and 30. Those who need items picked up may phone 639-2131. The sale benefits the Phillips Shared Ministry.

Sheep to Shawl’

LIVERMORE – A Sheep to Shawl Demonstration Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at Washburn Norlands Living History Center. The day will offer an opportunity to experience the 19th century way of providing clothing. People can watch a sheep shearer and watch or help as the wool is processed from a raw fleece to a finished product. It will be carded or combed, and then spun. People will see what it takes to weave it into cloth or use the wool for knitted or crocheted garments. Those attending are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the tables and the pastoral setting next to the mansion.

Lawn sale

JAY – A lawn sale to benefit the American Cancer Society will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at the former Moosehorn Trading Post on Route 4 in North Jay. Organizers request no early birds. Presbyterians meeting

NEW PORTLAND – The northern New England governing body of the Presbyterian Church will meet Saturday, May 1, at the North New Portland Community Church. The Presbytery of Northern New England will hold a business meeting in the church sanctuary during the morning and afternoon hours and, at noon, the delegates will be served a luncheon at Central School by the members of the New Portland and North New Portland churches. Approximately 100 delegates from four New England states will participate in the North New Portland gathering.

Blessing of plants, animals

NEW PORTLAND – The public is invited to attend a special worship service on Sunday, May 2, at the North New Portland Church. The Rev. Scott Planting will lead a congregation in a “Blessing of the Plants and Animals” as a celebration of Rural Life Sunday. Everyone is welcome to bring their pets, farm animals, plants, seedlings and garden soil to receive a blessing.

Roadside cleanup

WILTON – The annual Foothills Land Conservancy land cleanup will be 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 2. Participants may meet at the Headwaters land parking lot on Pond Road. This involves roadside and stream-side pickup. The rain date is May 9.

Quartet concert

WILTON – Transfixed, a quartet from New Brunswick Bible Institute, will be in concert at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, May 2, at the East Wilton Union Church. Calvin Hood, a teacher at the institute, will be the speaker. All are welcome. For more information, phone 645-4297.

Seniors disband

WILTON – The Wilton Senior Citizens, organized in 1967, voted to disband the club due to aging and declining membership. The vote was unanimous.
