JAY – Police are looking for an early 1980s Ford LTD that struck a telephone pole on Lomie Rivers Road late Saturday or early Sunday. Police found car parts, cassette tapes and a splintered pole but no vehicle at the accident scene.
The vehicle appeared to have been traveling south on Route 133 and turned right onto Lomie Rivers Road. It ended up on the opposite side of the road, and struck the pole head-on. Damage to the pole was extensive and he suspects the vehicle suffered significant front-end damage, but it likely was still driveable unless it was towed from the scene, police officer Richard Caton IV said.
About $2,000 in damage was done to the pole, police Chief Larry White Sr. said.
A bus driver reported seeing skid marks and the damage pole to police, Caton said.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Caton at 897-6766.
