LEWISTON – Albert J. Lepine, commander of the Lewiston/Auburn Chapter 11, Disabled American Veterans, has been promoted to colonel in the U.S. Chaplain Corps. His duty appointment is to command the 1st Division, Maine, 1st Regiment.
The corps volunteer units work without compensation, and volunteers are needed to assist in local units. When the corps receives a call for a military memorial service, a veteran needing aid, a lonely military wife needing assistance or for ministerial help during a time of crisis, the local staff gets the ball rolling. It makes the necessary phone calls and arranges the details so the chaplain can most efficiently do his job in serving the needs of the people.
Anyone interested in helping people during a time of need, regardless of prior military service or ministerial training, can have a place in the corps.
If interested in helping in any capacity, contact the local unit, state representative/commander or the USCC headquarters.
