LEWISTON – The Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s will present a light classical evening with the wind quintet Quintessence followed by a performance of the Mike Willette Swing Band Thursday, May 6.

The performance is for participants in Maine’s Creative Economy Conference and the general public. It will begin at 8 p.m. General admission is $5. Tickets may be purchased at the door. FMI: call 783-1585.

Under the direction of John Teller, a member of the Mid-Coast Symphony Orchestra, Quintessence will present a variety of works.

The quintet will present Beethoven’s Opus 71 for winds and Joplin’s “Cascades” and “A Breeze from Alabama.”

The music of Gilbert and Sullivan will also be presented in a selection from the “Pirates of Penzance.”

The Mike Willette Swing Band will perform a tribute to favorities of the big band era at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, also at the heritage center.
