I’m writing regarding the Lewiston Maineiacs and how much pleasure the organization has brought me. I am not a season ticket holder, but I did attend all but about six games.

I want to thank everyone involved with the Maineiacs organization. From Mr. Just to all of the players and the billet families. Although there were some bumps along the way, this first year has to be considered a success.

After awhile, attending the games became like attending a neighborhood get-together. I saw the same faces at every game. And often times, those same folks went someplace after to spend money in the L-A area. I am not sure how much money it will cost the taxpayers of Lewiston to make The Colisee successful. But I do know that a lot of money was spent on tickets, concessions and other ancillary items in the L-A area. The Maineiacs logo has been very successful and that has to mean revenue for area merchants.

I want to end by acknowledging the efforts of certain individuals. Roger Theriault for his vision. Jim Bennett and Phil Nadeau for stepping forward and putting their reputations on the line to make Lewiston a first-class city. The city council approving this move in such a short time. And the whole Maineiacs organization. To the billet families and all of the players. And to all those people who were so instrumental behind the scenes for the Maineiacs.

I cannot wait until August.
