As a widow of a World War II veteran, I’d like to express my opinion of President Bush being at the ceremonies of the dedication of the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C., on Memorial Day. This is an insult to those veterans who fought in WWII.

This man never was in a uniform, except one he borrowed. As long as he is in the spotlight with a smirk on his face, he’s happy. I feel we’re losing too many men in this terrible mess in Iraq. Mr. Bush just jumped the gun in that deal.

Maybe the oil wells were of great interest. He can afford high prices.

His interest is not with our country’s senior citizens or prescription drug problems. He wants the working person right under his thumb so he can smile and think about the money he is spending on things he thinks are important.

Where are the jobs for our veterans when they come home? All the business of big companies is done overseas, so we buy things and pay big prices.

Why can’t we get our steel mills and automakers back in the U.S.A.?

Let’s get some jobs for the veterans who, we hope and pray, will come home.

I hope and pray for this terrible war to be over soon.

Mr. Bush stated some time ago that the war was over. What do we call this mess where our soldiers are being killed every week?
