BUCKFIELD – Lindsey Neal smacked an RBI double in the seventh inning to lift Buckfield to a narrow 8-7 victory over Richmond in EWC softball action Monday.
Leslie Workman added a pair of hits for the Bucks (4-1), while Desiree Brackett earned the mound win.
Jasmine Lambert, Heather Martin and Casey Hughes led the Bobcats (3-1) with two hits each. Sarah Coonradt threw a complete game, allowing nine hits while taking the loss. Coonradt also made a contribution at the plate with two hits.
Lisbon 19, Dirigo 17
LISBON – Nicki Strople smacked a three-run triple to pace Lisbon as the Greyhounds slipped past Dirigo with a 19-17 victory on a rainy Monday afternoon.
Andrea Piela and Soleil Mathieu each hit doubles for the Greyhounds (5-1). Jesse Blaisdeh hit a triple, while Shannon Dalery smacked a double for the Cougars (0-7).
Winthrop 10, Mt. Abram 6
SALEM – Renee St. Hilaire belted out three hits with two RBIs to lead Winthrop to a 10-6 victory over Mt. Abram in a MVC softball matchup Monday.
Kelli Lescko added a pair of hits for the Ramblers, while Nil Emery smacked a triple. Katie Pushard scattered six hits from the mound to earn the win.
Emily Stinchfield and Whitney Fahy led the Roadrunners with triples, while Amanda Coburn smacked a double. Sisters Katie and Logan Walker split pitching duties with Logan taking the loss.
Lacrosse
Oxford Hills 12, Mountain Valley 10
RUMFORD – Oxford Hills’ Aimee McKeen and Ashley Lewis each netted a goal late in the lacrosse game to secure a 12-10 victory over Mountain Valley Monday.
The Falcons (2-4) scored three unanswered goals in the first quarter before the Vikings (2-2) finally got on the board.
Oxford Hills tied the game at 10 with 4:34 seconds to go in the game, before McKeen and Lewis netted the winning goals.
McKeen and Briana Thompson ended the contest with five goals a piece, while Lewis and Abigail Bunnell each scored one goal for the Vikings.
Jessica Allen scored five goals and recorded an assist, while Sam Johnson, and Jennifer and Ashley Arsenault combined for four goals for the losing cause.
Gould 17, Kents Hill 6
BETHEL – Betsy Caraboolad posted a game-high eight goals and one assist as Gould Academy routed Kents Hill 17-6 in girls’ lacrosse action Monday.
Although the game was tied at five at the half, Gould (5-4) came out strong and dominated the second half of the contest.
Sarah Velte and Mallory Ricker each netted four goals, while Katie Reed added a goal to the Huskies’ win.
The Kents Hill (0-4) effort was paced by Ali Hard with four goals, while Stephanie Tewskbury added two.
