FARMINGTON — In what proved to be a pitcher’s duel, Edward Little and Mt. Blue battled it out to the ninth inning, where Ryan Erickson had a base hit to drive in two runs, giving EL a 4-2 win over Mt. Blue in a Class A baseball game Wednesday.

Nick Taylor reached first base on an error to start off the ninth inning. Chris LeClair followed and beat out a bunt to get on base. After stealing second and third, Erickson’s single drove in Taylor and LeClair for the Eddies’ (3-6) win.

Nick Tibbetts struck out five batters for Mt. Blue (8-2), and Jake Hardy recorded the only extra base hit of the contest with a double.

Carrabec 1, Georges Valley 0

NORTH ANSON – Tim Therrian rocketed out a solo homer in the fourth inning to secure the only run Carrabec would need to notch a 1-0 triumph over Georges Valley Wednesday afternoon.

Therrian was also solid on the mound, striking out 16 batters for the Cobras’ (1-4) first win of the season. He had a no-hitter going into the seventh inning before giving up only one hit to the Buccaneers.

St. Dom’s 18, Sacopee Valley 0

AUBURN – Ian Poulin scattered four hits and received strong support at the plate as St. Dom’s rolled over Sacopee Valley with an 18-0 win in a WMC baseball matchup Wednesday.

Josh Dwinal tallied two hits with four runs scored for the Saints (4-1), while Jack Lavoie added a pair of hits. Brady Blackman managed four RBIs with one hit and a boatload of luck.

Bill Stacey pitched the first three innings for the Hawks (1-4), allowing nine runs and was credited with the loss.

Oxford Hills 9, Lewiston 4

SOUTH PARIS – Matt McDonnell and Joe Baker combined for four hits and four RBIs to pace Oxford Hills to a 9-4 victory over Lewiston in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.

Steve Cummings ripped an two-RBI triple in the fourth for the Vikings (9-1), while Rob McVety picked up the mound win.

Tyson Morgan and Mark Miller led the Blue Devils’ (3-2) offensive effort with two hits apiece, with Morgan getting three RBIs. Luke Potter allowed three runs in four innings and was credited with the loss.

Lisbon 11, Boothbay 1

BOOTHBAY – Jarrod Church cracked three hits for Lisbon as the Greyhounds sped off with an 11-1 win over Boothbay in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

The Greyhounds (6-2) executed clutch two-out hitting, gaining four runs in the first and third innings for a 10-1 lead after three. Jon Tefft, who earned his third win of the season with seven strikeouts, had a pair of doubles to aid his cause.

Catcher Casey Latter provided a double for the Seahawks (6-1) in their first loss of the season.

Poland 6, York 2

YORK – Max Levine and Eric Piper belted back-to-back home runs in the opening salvo of the game to set the tempo as Poland cruised to a 6-2 win over York in baseball action Wednesday.

The Knights (5-4) had a dazzling first inning as Curtis Haslip, the fourth batter in the lineup, smashed a third home run of the inning. Haslip contributed another pair of RBIs in the seventh to put the finishing touches on the win.

Steve Knot lifted a two-run, home run for the Wildcats (1-6) in the third inning to cut the Poland lead in half, but Alex Smith shut down York’s scoring over the next four frames.
