LEWISTON – The Woman’s Hospital Association of Central Maine Medical Center will feature the work of June Dragoon and Sandy Nyberg during the May.
June Dragoon of Peru has paintings in private collections throughout the United States. She has also taken several awards and participated in many juried shows. Although she has studied with a number of well-known artists, she is basically self-taught, learning and striving to improve her technique. Dragoon said she wants the viewer to feel as though they are entering her paintings. Her work consists of New England landscapes, florals and children.
Dragoon has served as treasurer from 1999 to 2001 and is on the board of directors for the Western Mountain Artists Group and is a member of Upcountry Artist. Her work can be seen in many area galleries and sidewalk shows throughout Maine. She resides with her husband in Peru and also owns Hillside Art Gallery in her home.
Sandy Nyberg is a native of Auburn, residing and working in this area most of her life. It wasn’t until the mid 1990s that her lifelong dream to create original art work became a reality. After studying with two local artists, she started to build her inventory of watercolor paintings for exhibits.
She has previously displayed at Central Maine Community College, the Public Theater, the Auburn Public Library, Richmond Health Center and Central Maine Medical Center. Her work features floral, coastal and rural themes, often based on photographs taken by the artist and/or commission requests.
Nyberg has been included in juried shows in Norway and at Prout’s Neck. During the summer of 2002 and 2003, her art was displayed at Crickett’s Restaurant in Freeport and at Sebasco Estates in Phippsburg. She has also participated in the sidewalk art show in Norway. Included in her items for sale are original watercolor paintings and prints. Commissions are also accepted.
Nyberg’s business is operating under the name of Three Pines Studio at her home in Auburn where she resides with her husband and their Sheltie pup.
The art exhibit may be viewed in the main corridor of the Central Maine Medical Center throughout May.
