AUBURN – The Rev. Dr. Foster Williams and his wife, MaryJane, have begun serving as the interim pastoral team at Court Street Baptist Church.

Williams is a native of Danforth and attended Houghton College in New York. His graduate studies were taken at Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and at Boston University. He earned his doctor of ministry degree from Princeton University in New Jersey.

Mrs. Williams hails from Glenolden, Pa. She brings expertise in Christian education, missions and women’s ministries. As past president of the American Baptist Churches of Maine, she instituted the president’s cabinet, the executive minister’s relations committee and the Christian nurture committee, and worked to revive the concept of Christian Vocation Sunday.

During their 45 years in ministry, the Williamses have served churches in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, California and Maine. Most recently, they shepherded the Damariscotta Baptist Church for two years while it was without a permanent pastor. A former interim executive minister for ABCOM, Williams is the denomination’s Penquis/East area minister.

The Williamses have a home in Winterport. Their two married daughters and families reside in the Gorham area.
