AKRON, Ohio (AP) – Franklin Gutierrez had three singles and walked twice in five at bats and Ben Francisco drove in four runs for Akron in the Aeros’ 7-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs Friday night in an Eastern League game.
Francisco’s single in the second inning drove in two and gave the Aeros a 4-2 lead. He later drove in runs with a ground out and sacrifice fly. Corey Smith went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Akron starter Oscar Alvarez (3-0) gave up nine hits in five innings, but only two Portland runs.
The Aeros were rough on Portland starter Charlie Zink (0-4), who only lasted 1 1-3 innings and allowed five hits, four walks and four runs.
Kenny Perez went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in the loss.
