LEWISTON – Tyson Morgan (3-3) drilled a single to right center field in the bottom of the seventh inning to snap a 5-5 deadlock to send Lewiston to a 6-5 victory over Morse in KVAC baseball action Saturday.

Zack Timmermeyer reached on an error to start the seventh inning, advanced to second on a fielders’ choice and raced for home on Morgan’s single to send the Blue Devils (4-8) to the victory.

Morse jumped out to a five-run lead in the top of the first inning but Timmermeyer settled down and didn’t allow a run for the rest of the way to register the complete game victory.

Gould Academy 8, CVA 5

BETHEL – Gould Academy scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to send Carrabasett Valley to an 8-5 setback in prep school baseball action Saturday.

After Quinn McAllister drew a walk with the bases loaded, T.J. Savage drove in a pair of runs with a double and John Munson followed with a single to account for the fourth run in the victory.

McAllister and Savage each blasted home runs in the win to support Gary Rumley who notched the win with relief help from McAllister in the sixth inning.

Boys’ lacrosse
Lewiston 14, Lincoln 3

NEWCASTLE – Jon Fournier scored two of his five goals in the first period to get Lewiston off to a quick start as the Blue Devils routed Lincoln Academy 14-3 in boys’ lacrosse action Saturday.

Lewiston (7-1) opened leads of 4-0, 6-1 and 10-1 at the quarter breaks.

David Patry and Ben Fournier chipped in with two goals apiece for the Devils. Peter Wilde scored twice for Lincoln (1-6).

LEWISTON – Megan Marcoux went the distance, striking out four and walking two to lead Lewiston to a 6-1 win over Morse in KVAC softball action Saturday afternoon.

Amanda Michaud blasted a home run for the Blue Devils (8-4).

The Shipbuilders (3-8) lone hit came off the bat of Chelsea Guth in the third inning.

Monmouth 5, Boothbay 0

MONMOUTH – Kayla Chick threw a two-hit shutout as Monmouth Academy downed Boothbay 5-0 in MVC softball action.

Trista Morin paced the Mustangs attack with a pair of hits, including a double.

Aimee Wilcox took the loss allowing seven hits in a complete game effort.

Girls’ lacrosse
Gould 10, Hyde 9

BETHEL – Besty Caraboolad netted three goals, including the game winner, and dished out three assists to lead Gould over Hyde 10-9 Saturday afternoon.

Sarah Velte joined Caraboolad with three goals for the Huskies (6-4) while teammate Mallory Ricker tallied two goals and two assists. Jen Guneyli was in net for Gould and had 11 saves.

Meddy Hurd led all scorers with seven goals for the Phoenix. Adele Hayward put on a gritty perfomance in net for Hyde (4-2-1) and stopped 10 shots.
