AUBURN – Central Maine Community College will offer a Low Pressure Boiler Operator (ENT 005-21) course from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays from May 19 to July 7.

The course will provide boiler operators with the knowledge and techniques to operate and maintain a steam generating plant or a hot water heating plant in a safe and efficient manner. Basics of boiler design and control will be emphasized as well as the importance of feedwater treatment. Participants will prepare for the state licensing exam.

A boiler operator may operate a heating plant with steam boilers not exceeding 15 psi or hot water and hot water supply boilers not exceeding 160 psi or 250 degrees Fahrenheit or both.

The cost of the course is $396 and includes books and materials. Douglas Lothrop, who holds a first class engineer’s license and a natural gas and propane technician’s license, will be the instructor.
