AKRON, Ohio (AP) – John Hattig hit two home runs and finished with five RBIs to lead the Portland Sea Dogs to a 10-3 win over the Akron Aeros in the Eastern League on Sunday.
Hattig hit a two-run shot in the third, then added a three-run homer in the fifth, both off Derrick Van Dusen. Hattig has eight home runs for the season.
The Sea Dogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the top of the second when Jeff Bailey, Joe Kilburg and Raul Nieves each drove in a run.
The Aeros answered at the bottom of the inning with Ben Francisco’s RBI triple, and Nate Grindell’s sacrifice fly to center. Grindell homered in the sixth for Akron’s other run. Mike O’Keefe scored Portland’s last run with his solo homer in the eighth.
Chris Smith (3-0) took the win for Portland. He struck out three and gave up six hits and two runs in five innings.
Akron’s Travis Foley (1-3) gave up three hits and three runs and walked three in 1 2-3 innings.
