Our former governor, Angus King, proposed a laptop program with the money coming from voluntary supporters. The taxpayers paid for it instead.

Now Gov. Baldacci is proposing a program for more laptops, the state to pay 55 percent, the local districts to pay 45 percent. The payments due are to be put off for a year. This amounts to another 100 percent from the taxpayer.

Democrats just don’t get it. We are already overtaxed. Putting off the payments for these laptops for a year will only sink us further in debt and raise our taxes even higher.

At this current irresponsible rate, the Democrats will bankrupt our state in no time at all.

Spend, spend, spend!

People should think about their vote in the next election. Does anyone really enjoy having their taxes be the highest in the nation? Do people really enjoy having a state without jobs?

Soon the only people left in Maine will be out-of-state retirees. Those of us who live here now will lose our properties to higher taxes and no longer be able to afford living here.

If people keep electing Democrats, this state will all too soon be in the same shape as California.
