JAY – An Auburn man was stabbed twice and a Jay teen cut his finger off during an altercation early Sunday at B.J.’s Trailer Park.

The case is being reviewed for charges by the District Attorney’s Office, said Jay Police Chief Larry White Sr.

Adam Mears, 18, of Jay was arrested on a probation hold after he was treated at a Lewiston hospital for his amputated finger and released, and then interviewed at the Jay Police Station on the altercation, he said.

Robert Harper, 21, of Auburn was stabbed once in the back and once in the chest, White said. He was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

The incident started with police responding to a 4 a.m. complaint of a group of teenagers consuming alcohol at the Michael Nuzzo residence, White said.

Officers Richard Caton IV and Steve Smith arrested Nuzzo, 44, a father at the residence, on a charge of violating his probation, White said. Caton took Nuzzo to Franklin County Jail.

In the meantime, at 5 a.m. another call came into the station from the Nuzzo’ residence reporting that someone broke in and beat up Mears who was in bed sleeping, White said.

A second call came in from another residence there reporting that a person had been stabbed twice, White said.

The chief, Sgt. Charles Keene and officer Roy Hodsdon assisted the other officers at the scene.

There was some kind of altercation between Mears and Harper, White said, adding that Mears’ finger was amputated when a folding knife shut on it.

This case is still under investigation, White said.
