FARMINGTON – Selectmen plan to hold two public hearings Tuesday, one on reconstructing a road and the other on installing a sidewalk.

The hearings begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building.

The first hearing is on the proposed reconstruction of a half-mile section of Knowlton Corner Road, Town Manager Richard Davis said.

The budget for the work is $127,000, with the state picking up to 67 percent of the cost or $85,000, Davis said.

The town has budgeted funds for the rest of the project.

The second hearing is on the proposed construction of 1,700 feet of sidewalk along Wilton Road from The Franklin Journal Office to Shop ‘n Save Drive.

The project is estimated at $21,160, with the state picking up to 66.16 percent of the cost or $14,000, Davis said. The town has budgeted money for the remainder of the project, he said.

Selectmen are also scheduled to discuss buying a floor lift for the new Public Works garage. Public Works Director Mitch Boulette budgeted $20,000 for the floor life, but the lowest bid came in at $22,033, Davis said.

Boulette is going to ask if $2,033 could come from the Fire Department’s reserve account since the lift would be for work on firetrucks also, Davis said.
