FARMINGTON – The Bellamy Jazz Band will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, May 14, in Nordica Auditorium at the University of Maine at Farmington. The jazz band is returning for its sixth performance in the last 15 years.

The band, which has been together 26 years, plays New Orleans jazz and swing, entertaining with great sounds and an upbeat, humorous style.

Performers are: Dana Fisher on cornet, trumpet and fluegelhorn, Dave Debree on tenor and vocals, Bill Manduca on trombone and vocals, Pete Lord on soprano sax and tenor sax, and Peter Dunphy on banjo, tenor guitar and vocals.

Jazz came roaring out of the ’20s with a wild vitality and irreverence and Bellamy Jazz keeps it that way. They’ve been voted Maine’s Most Popular Jazz band three years in a row. They play a loose jammin’ Chicago style jazz ranging from Preservation Hall to swing, jazz ballads, dance hall tunes and a hint of rock ‘n’ roll.

Admission will be $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, and $2 for children 12 and under. There is no advance sale of tickets. The concert is sponsored by the Arts Institute of Western Maine with the UMF Alumni Association. For more information, phone 645-2157.
