When you hear that our founding fathers were strong Christians, guided by God to colonize this new land “America,” we tend to forget or ignore the massacre of those evil, pagan savages that took place.

The world is full of propaganda messages used by religious groups and the government defending their causes. These groups are the main reasons there is so much hate and destruction in this world.

The majority rules. With 85 percent mostly Christian conservative, they are dictating laws that prevent the 15 percent that are homosexuals from having the same rights every American should have.

A fishing license grants you permission to fish. A driving license grants you permission to drive. A marriage license grants you permission to have lawful sexual encounter with your spouse.

These licenses are issued by the government, not the church. Homosexuals are human beings with sexual needs. By denying them equal rights, their actions will always be evil, thus they are labeled sinners.

In Diane Rines letter (May 1), she writes, “Caron compares the torturous death of Christ to the murder of Matthew Shepard.”

Here are the facts, Jesus was hated because he strayed from Judaism. Shepard was hated because he was gay. Both died a painful, unnecessary death.

Yes, America has a strong forceful military. We are capable of defeating evil throughout the world. Is this what God really wants from us? Too many young and innocent lives have been destroyed – for what?
