LEWISTON – South Lewiston Little League will be conducting a pitch, hit and run competition, Sunday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Marcotte Park. The event is open to boys and girls between the ages of 7-14 prior to July 17, 2004. A birth certificate is required at time of registration which takes place at 8:30 a.m.

Winners will advance to the sectionals, with an opportunity to earn a berth in the regional competition at Fenway Park. The National Finals will be held at the 2005 All-Star Game.

Auburn Suburban

AUBURN – Pepsi blanked VFW 13-0 Monday in the Major Division. EJ Zembas and Cameron Ivers combined for the pitching shutout. Zembas and Mike DeVoe both walloped a homer. Austin Polisky and Adam Lerette also provided offensive spark. Corey Mulholland was the top stick for VFW.

LEWISTON – Cross Insurance opened the new season with a pair of victories in the Major Division. The Insurancemen beat Mike Morin’s Auto Care 7-3 as Max Lessard gained the mound win. Chris Jacques earned a save. Brandon Kelly ripped 2 clutch hits and Ryan Lemelin smashed an RBI double. Alex Parker scored twice. Tucker Beaudoin pitched for Morin. Mekae Hyde led the offense. . . Cross also trimmed Rowe Lewiston 10-3 as Jacques and Parker combined on a 3-hitter. Lemelin collected 2 more safeties while Parker scored 3 times. Tyler Nunez, Lessard and David Ouellette all scored 2 runs. Alex Brochu and Joe Sullivan paced Rowe.
