One man was charged with operating under the influence.

LIVERMORE FALLS – Two men were arrested in separate incidents after they took off running from law enforcers, police said.

Tim Richardson, 28, of Greene was charged with operating under the influence, operating after suspension, leaving the scene of an accident and driving to endanger.

Richardson picked up a hitchhiker, stopped at a residence in Livermore Falls, went inside and got into an argument with the resident there, said Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr.

Richardson came back out and took off in the vehicle, speeding away from the Pine Ridge Loop residence and went off the road and struck a guy wire, Steward said.

Richardson backed onto the road but could only go left because of damage to the vehicle, the chief said.

Richardson fled the vehicle on foot into the woods, Steward said.

Officer Maurice Drouin gave chase and eventually caught up with Richardson and placed him under arrest.

Travis Therrien, 22, of Greene, a passenger in Richardson’s vehicle was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington with leg injuries, Steward said.

In a separate incident, James Burnell, 31, of New Sharon was charged with criminal threatening, refusing to submit to arrest and a probation violation.

Burnell allegedly made threats to family members, Steward said.

His probation officer, Sandy Emerson, told Burnell he was going to put a probation hold on him and Burnell took off.

He fled on foot from R-N-K’s Pizzeria toward the railroad tracks, Steward said.

Drouin responded to the scene and spotted Burnell near Franklin Street, then behind Central Plaza and finally inside a fenced-in area at the Otis mill.

Drouin made contact with him on Bridge Street as he started to climb a fence, the chief said.

When Drouin tried to stop him, Burnell turned around and jumped him, Steward said. The officer then sprayed him with Capstun – a pepper spray.

When Burnell kept coming at Drouin, he had to subdue him, Steward said.
