LEWISTON – David Kell knocked in the winning run with the bases loaded and two outs in the 11th inning as Lewiston completed an amazing comeback win over Skowhegan, 10-9, in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.

Trailing 7-0 before they even got to bat, the Blue Devils (5-9) chipped away, led by Kell, Mike Johnson and Phil Chaput (three RBIs), who smacked three hits apiece. Nate Langlais kept the Indians at bay by allowing just two runs in seven innings of relief.

Tom Jenness led Skowhegan with three hits and four RBIs.

Leavitt 7, Med. Valley 2

TURNER – Brandon Hinkley smacked an RBI triple in the third inning, while teammate Dustin Gilbert hit an RBI double in the fourth inning to pace Leavitt to a 7-2 defeat over Medomak Valley.

Donny Hinkley hit a key two-out single to bring in an extra run, helping the Hornets (6-7) to the cement the victory, and snap a four game losing streak. In his first varsity appearance on the mound, Chris Brewer recorded the win for the Hornets.

Brian Blackler and Chris Mitchell each had two hits a piece for the Panthers.

Mtn. Valley 13, Dirigo 2

RUMFORD – Tim Turner hit two two-run doubles in the fourth innning to help Mountain Valley remain unbeaten with a 13-2 victory over Dirigo.

Miuntain Valley (7-0) scored 10 runs in the fourth inning. Falcons’ Marcus Palmer went the distance striking out four to improve his record to (4-0).

Craig Langervin knocked in Brendan Berry twice for Dirigo’s (3-8) only runs.

Mt. Blue 6, Brunswick 3

BRUNSWICK – Jake Hardy had a pair of hits, including a double, to pace Mt. Blue to a 6-3 win over Brunswick in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.

Chris Silva had an infield hit to lead off a productive second inning for the Cougars (10-3). Silva proceeded to steal second and third, before scoring on a passed ball. Hardy doubled in the fifth run of the inning for Mt. Blue.

Mt. Blue pitcher Brian Wells remained undefeated with his fifth win of the season, while Ryan Flannagan took the loss for the Dragons (5-8).

Oak Hill 10, Lincoln 4

NEWCASTLE – Adam Shaffstall hit a two-run homer in the third inning which tied the game at 2-2 and Oak Hill never let up winning 10-4 against Lincoln.

Pat Duchette went 4-for-4 for the Raiders (10-1). Ben Buckland went 4-for-4 and hit a two-run single for Lincoln (7-4).

Hebron 16, Gould 15

BETHEL – Jeff Scammon rocketed out a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning, as Hebron defeated Gould 16-15.

Scammon hit a two-run homer in the third inning for the Hebron (6-7) victory. Derek Miller also hit a two-run homer and a double for the win.

The Gould effort was paced by Karl Olson and Quinn McAllister with doubles. After Scammon’s grand slam the score was 16-12 in favor of Hebron. The Huskies scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to cut down Hebron’s lead 16-15, but bases loaded proved fruitless as Gould left all the runners stranded at the end of the seventh inning and the contest.

Lacrosse
Lewiston 14, Mtn. Valley 2

RUMFORD – Jon Fournier had a whopping nine goals to lead Lewiston to a 14-2 triumph over Mtn. Valley.

The Blue Devils (7-1) found the back of the net on three occassions in the first quarter and led 5-1 at the half. Ben Fournier pitched in with a pair of goals for Lewiston.

The Falcons (2-5) scored single goals in the second and fourth quarters to keep from being shut out.

Goalie Billy Brooks made six saves in net for Lewiston, while Devin Roberts turned back 12 for the Falcons in the loss.
