Toronto wins its sixth straight at home to beat Boston and Curt Schilling.

TORONTO (AP) – Orlando Hudson tied a franchise record with five runs scored, and Miguel Batista earned his first win with his new team as the Toronto Blue Jays beat Curt Schilling and the Boston Red Sox 12-6 Thursday night.

Hudson, Toronto’s new leadoff hitter, went 4-for-4 with a walk for the Blue Jays, who have won six straight at SkyDome after starting the season 1-9 at home.

Toronto’s Frank Catalanotto went 4-for-5 and tied a career high with four RBIs.

Batista (1-3) won for the first time in eight starts, allowing five runs and eight hits while striking out six and walking two in 6 1-3 innings.

Schilling (4-3), Batista’s former teammate in Arizona, pitched a season-low five innings, allowing three runs and eight hits. Manager Terry Francona and a trainer went to the mound in the fifth to ask if Schilling was hurt. Schilling said he was OK and finished the inning. A Red Sox spokesman said his early exit didn’t have to do with an injury.

Schilling, who threw 104 pitches after pitching a complete game in his last start, dropped to 1-5 with a 5.70 ERA in 12 career appearances against the Blue Jays. He also lost at SkyDome on April 22.

David Ortiz homered for the Red Sox, who have lost four of five.

Toronto’s first four batters of the game reached base as Hudson and Catalanotto hit consecutive doubles and Vernon Wells and Carlos Delgado walked. Schilling escaped further damage when Josh Phelps hit into a double play and Eric Hinske popped out.

Schilling allowed Toronto’s first three batters in the third to reach as Hudson singled, Catalanotto doubled and Wells hit an RBI single.

Johnny Damon’s RBI single cut Toronto’s lead to 2-1 in the fifth, but Delgado hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom half. Ortiz homered in the sixth, but the Blue Jays countered with five runs in the bottom half. Boston made two errors.

Howie Clark hit an RBI single off Lenny DiNardo, who threw wildly to first for an error.

that allowed Kevin Cash to reach first and Clark to advance to third. Hudson and Catalanotto followed with consecutive run-scoring singles. Damon, the center fielder, later dropped a fly ball for an error, allowing two runs to score.

The Red Sox scored four runs in the seventh to cut the lead to 8-6.

After Damon chased Batista with an RBI single, Mark Bellhorn and Ortiz followed with RBI singles off Jason Kershner. Manny Ramirez added a run-scoring single off Aquilino Lopez.

After Bellhorn, the third baseman, failed to catch a popup in foul territory in the seventh, Catalanotto hit a two-run single, giving Toronto a 10-6 lead.
