Dear Sun Spots: In December, I ordered a gift subscription to the Maine Times for my aunt in Tennessee for Christmas. I received a bill in January and sent them a check right away. The check hadn’t even been in the mail two days when I heard they were closing the magazine and going out of business. Yet they cashed my check. They had never even sent my aunt one issue. To date, I have not received a refund. Phone calls to the numbers listed in old issues get a “disconnect” message. How can I get a refund for the magazines that were never sent? – Cheryl Pelletier, Auburn.

Answer: Another reader wrote to the March 13, 2004, column with the same question. Unfortunately Sun Spots tried to contact the former editor and publisher of the Maine Times, but had no success. Perhaps there are other readers out there who have subscribed to this magazine and would be willing to share what they know with you.

I am hoping that Sun Spots readers can help me by donating infant and toddler play equipment, changing table, highchairs, porta-cribs and various toys in good condition for ages 6 weeks to 4 years old. I am willing to travel to pick up these items. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I can be reached at (207) 782-4828. – A grateful reader from Lewiston.
