Escaping materialism

FARMINGTON – A one-hour video on declaring independence from materialism will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday, May 24, in Ricker Addition at the University of Maine at Farmington by Western Mountains Peace Action Workshop.

Adopting practices of simple living could enable Americans and Europeans to use natural resources more wisely, reducing the pressure experienced by high consumption nations to exploit oil and other resources of the Middle East and the Third World, according to the Peace Action Workshop.

There is no charge for the program of film and discussion although donations will be accepted to fund future programs. For more information, people can call Bob Healy at 652-2377.
