FARMINGTON – Maine Mountain Chamber Music will present a program at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22, in Nordica Auditorium at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The performance will include Three Madrigals for violin and viola by Czech composer Bohuslav Martinu, which utilize Czech folk themes and extraordinary instrumental effects; Spiegel im Spiegel by contemporary composer Arvo Part; and works by Aaron Copland and George Gershwin, two of the best known American composers of the 20th century.

The centerpiece of the concert will be Franz Schubert’s “Trout Quintet,” which has been, for almost 200 years, the most popular work of this most melodic of composers.

The musicians are pianist Yuri Funahashi from Wilton; violinist Peter Zazofsky; Andrew Wilson, a string bass player from Boston; and Elizabeth Anderson, a cellist who has performed around the world.

In addition to the concert, Zazofsky will offer a master class from 10 a.m. to noon May 22 in Nordica Auditorium. He will work with local soloists and instrumental groups to lend his insights on performing. Admission to this session is $2, with students admitted free.

Admission to the concert will be $8 for adults and $6 for seniors, with children under 16 free.
