• May 11 – A 13-year-old SAD 44 student was reportedly assaulted while riding a school bus, and transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway by Bethel Rescue. The incident remains under investigation.

• May 10, 7:55 p.m. – A Ridge Road resident reported a burglary and theft. Someone had entered the residence between 7:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day. Items taken were three bottles of hard lemonade and three bottles of wine. A six-pack of beer, still cold, was left behind on the counter.

• May 10, 2:20 p.m. – A South Hampton, N.H., resident reported that someone had stolen her son’s special mountain bike sometime between May 5 and May 10 at Gould Academy. The bike is valued at $5,000.

• May 9, 7:41 a.m. – Paradise Road residents reported seeing a black bear in a backyard, knocking over two bird feeders. The Maine Warden Service was notified and residents were advised to secure any food sources and bird feeders to discourage the hungry bear from returning.

• May 9 – An Elm Street resident reported a burglary and trashing of their residence, but nothing appeared to be missing. The incident occurred sometime between 12:35 p.m. on May 8 and 3:30 a.m. on May 9.

Several items were broken, chairs and tables were overturned in the living room and kitchen. A bookshelf was knocked over and its contents thrown about the living room floor. Glass dishes were shattered. There were no signs of forced entry.

• May 9, 1:36 a.m. – While investigating a vehicle on a dirt road just off Grover Hill Road, patrolman Michael Grenier reported that two four-wheel all-terrain vehicles roared past his cruiser at a high rate of speed heading down the road toward town. He gave chase at speeds up to 70 mph, but lost the duo when they left the road and entered woods on a trail.

• May 7, 12:58 p.m. – An Annis Road resident reported that someone had entered the cemetery and knocked over gravestones. She requested extra police patrols in the area. Patrols were stepped up.

• May 5, 8:40 p.m. – An Orring resident reported that someone attempted to use his stolen ATM card at the Irving station and convenience store on Route 2 in Bethel, but the purchase was denied. The resident stated that on or about May 3, his wallet containing $35 cash and credit cards, was stolen from the visiting team locker when the athletic team he is on went to Gould Academy for a lacrosse meet.

Arrests

• Charles H. Dresser, 18, of Bethel, on charges of operating under the influence and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, on May 15.

• Carle A. Robbins, 44, of Troy, on charges of operating after suspension, habitual offender status and possession of a usable amount of marijuana, on May 15. He was transported to Oxford County jail in Paris.

• Richard Eugene Marquis, 60, of Houston, Texas, on a charge of operating under the influence, on May 12.

• Darren R. Gilmour, 31, of Standish, on charges of operating under the influence and operating after suspension, on May 8.
