AUBURN – Pierre J. Rivard, 83, of 24 Gage Lane, Auburn, died peacefully Tuesday, May 18, at his residence.

Born in Lewiston, Sept. 25, 1920, the son of Alfred and Anna (Tardif) Rivard, he had been a resident of this community all of his life.

He was a member of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II with Company B of the 844th Engineers.

He was employed in the textile industry until his retirement. Following his retirement, he volunteered most of his time as a rosary maker.

He was a dedicated lifetime member of St. Mary’s Church, a member of the Pastime Club and was an avid bowler, having belonged to the Young at Heart League.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Lucille Bazinet of Auburn, whom he married on Sept. 2, 1946; four sons, Peter Rivard and his wife, Jo of Suisun, Calif., Gerard Rivard and his wife, Penny of Kingwood, Texas, David Rivard and his companion, Mary of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Lucien Rivard and his wife, Sue Poulin of Litchfield; one daughter, Susan Rivard of Lewiston; one sister, Alice Lauze of Lewiston; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
