MEXICO – Maine Credit Unions, supporters of Ending Hunger in Maine, donated $200 to the Greater Rumford Area Ministers and Priests Association recently.
Oxford Federal Credit Union hosted the association treasurer, Sue Byam, at a Norm Nolette CU Chapter meeting of Credit Unions in Lewiston on May 5, along with representatives of other Ending Hunger organizations, to receive the donations. Maine credit unions have raised more than $1.5 million to End Hunger in Maine since 1990.
During May, Oxford Federal Credit Union employees collected cans of soup, which were taken to the Green Church Food Pantry on May 14. Food Pantry volunteer Ron Chartier welcomed the donation, and said nonperishables are always needed. “There is a special need for jams, jellies, soup, and vegetables, especially corn,” he said. The food pantry is open on Monday afternoons and Friday mornings.
