FAYETTE – “Notable American Giants” is the theme for the annual spring concert to be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Fayette Central School. The program is a joint project of the school, Fayette Historical Society and Fayette Home and School Association.

Music teacher Kim Ellis will lead class groups, pre-kindergarten through grade five. Songs were composed by four American music giants, including Aaron Copland, Stephen C. Foster, Woody Guthrie and John Philip Sousa.

Fayette history giants will be noted, including Joseph Underwood, Elmer E. Gile, Oscar E. Young, Josiah Sturtevant and Nettie (Plant) Mitchell. Neighboring town giants include Noah Greeley at Mount Vernon, Amasa Alden of Livermore Falls and Michael Cooper.

After a brief intermission, Michael Cooper, famous mime educator from Chesterville, will share his program, which he performs in all sections of the U.S. He will strap on stilts, don rags and share his favorite giant.

During the closing, Alex Rose, grade five, will represent all students – potential future giants. He will ride his unicycle into the auditorium and hang a May basket on Michael Cooper.
