LEWISTON – Raymond J. Garneau, 77, of 282 Lisbon St., Lewiston, died Sunday, May 23, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Born in Rumford, May 30, 1926, the son of Joseph and Odelie (Morrissette) Garneau, he had been a resident of this area since 1933.

He had been employed as a meat cutter and later on as a security guard at CMMC, until his retirement. “Ray” was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9881, also a member of St. Peter and St. Patrick’s churches.

He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II and also during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include one brother, Ernest Garneau of Lisbon; one sister, Jeannette Ashton of Augusta; one sister-in-law, Dora Garneau of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Lucille Morin and Fernande Ladd; and two brothers, Armand and Lionel Garneau.
