NORWAY – The Western Maine Health Passport to Fitness Walk sponsored by Stephens Memorial Hospital scheduled for 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, has been changed to Wednesday, June 2, due to the forecast of rain. Registration will be still be taken during the scheduled time at the Ripley Medical Building. Registration forms are also available at the time of registration, or they may be picked up at the receptionist desk at SMH anytime Wednesday or Thursday, May 26 and 27. Library program
NORWAY – A program on painter and photographer Vivian Akers will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at the Norway Memorial Library. Akers was born in Norway in 1886 and died here in 1966.
He will be honored at the Norway Summer Festival this year. There will be a four-page handout created about him that will be available during the festival, as well as a talk about his work on July 6 presented by Marius Peladeau, former director of the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland. Refreshments will be available following the gathering.

Plant sale
NORWAY – The Progress Center will hold its annual plant sale on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, May 26, 27 and 28, at the Center at 35 Cottage St. Hours will be from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m Friday. Offered will be annuals, perennials and hanging plants. A door prize of a perennial basket from Young’s Greenhouse of South Paris will be drawn at 1 p.m.
Proceeds benefit individuals attending the Progress Center, a nonprofit organization serving developmentally and physically disabled adults.
Benefit yard sale
OXFORD – Responsible Pet Care Shelter for Homeless Cats will hold a benefit yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at the shelter on Route 118. No early birds. Donations are welcome. Proceeds benefit care of the cats. Responsible Pet Care is a no kill shelter. For information phone 743-8679.
