Everyone is invited to participate in the Memorial Day parade in Lewiston-Auburn at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 29. The committee is inviting all musical units, color guards, Boy, Girl and Cub Scouts, veterans organizations and youth organizations to participate. This year’s parade will honor World War II veterans, since it is also the date the new World War II Monument in Washington, D.C., will be dedicated. A memorial ceremony will be held after the parade in the new Veterans Park on Main Street.

Norway

Stone-Smart Post, American Legion and Auxiliary will host veterans on Saturday, May 29. At 2 p.m. the dedication of the WWII monument will be shown on a big-screen TV.

Greenwood

Ring-McKeen Post, American Legion and Auxiliary will join Jackson-Silver Post at the Greenwood town hall for lunch and viewing of the dedication of the WWII Memorial in Washington. The Parisians and the Hillsmen will perform.

The annual Memorial Day celebration Sunday, May 30, at the Maine Veterans Home commences at 2 p.m., with a welcome address by administrator Pat Young. The flag raising and Honor Guard will be performed by the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of Oxford. The pledge of allegiance will by led by Joe Cooney, chairman of the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee. Guest speaker will be Congressman Michael Michaud.

Rangeley

Sunday, May 30. Parade on Main Street starts at 2 p.m. A brief ceremony at the Veterans Memorial follows.

Newry

Residents will gather at noon Sunday to honor Americans who have given the ultimate sacrifice to ensure freedom. The ceremonies will be held at the Raymond C. Foster Town Office and Fire Station complex on Route 26.

Service begins 7:30 a.m.: Veterans groups gather at Rumford Center memorial for laying of wreath, prayers. 9 a.m.: Annual parade starts on Canal Street in Rumford, down Congress Street to the Memorial Bridge, down Rumford Avenue to Waldo Street to Lincoln Avenue, across bridge to Mexico and down Route 2 to the Memorial Green. All are welcome to walk in parade.

Farmington

American Legion Post 28 will hold its annual Memorial Day services starting at 9 a.m. at World War I Memorial on Upper Main Street. 9:30 a.m., services with speaker inside Legion Post 28 on High Street. At close of inside services, a short ceremony will be held outside the Post to lay a wreath for all veterans.

The parade starts approximately 10 a.m. After the parade, the post will serve refreshments inside the hall.

Greenwood

On Monday, May 31, the town’s traditional Memorial Day begins at 9 a.m. as the annual Memorial Day Parade starts from the Jackson-Silver American Legion Post on Gore Road. It proceeds to the town common on Route 26 in Locke Mills.

Following the ceremonies at the common, the parade will continue on the Mount Abram Cemetery on Howe Hill Road. Marchers will return to the American Legion Hall for refreshments. In case of bad weather the program will be held indoors at the Legion Hall.

West Paris

The town will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday. The parade steps off from Park and Main streets, to Memorial Bridge on High Street, then marches to the Wayside Cemetery on Main Street. The parade will return to the park in the village and the program will conclude with a ceremony at the town’s War Memorial.

Otisfield

American Legion Post 112 will hold a Memorial Day observance and flag ceremony at 8 a.m. Monday, May 31, at the park on Route 121. Parade in Oxford beginning at 9 a.m. at the elementary school.

Paris

The Paris Memorial Day Parade steps off at 10 a.m. Monday, May 31, in front of the Oxford County Courthouse on Western Avenue. All active-duty service personnel, veterans, civic organizations and youth groups are invited to march and should assemble between 9:30 and 9:45.

Parade Marshal is Ray Berard of Foster-Carroll American Legion Post. The parade is scheduled to swing across the railroad tracks and proceed north on Main Street, halting at the entrance to Riverside Cemetery. The parade will reform and march back to the American Legion Hall on Church Street. Should the parade be canceled due to bad weather, the service will take place at the Legion Hall.

The annual memorial church service will be Sunday, May 30, at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church. Foster-Carroll members are to meet at the church at 9:30.

Norway

The Norway Memorial Day parade will start at 8:30 a.m; participants will assemble at 8:15 in Advertiser Square.

A brief stop is planned at Whitehall Park for a wreath-laying at the Civil War Memorial. The parade will continue down Main Street to Veterans Memorial Park, where memorial services will be concluded. Ceremonies will be moved inside the Legion Home in case of inclement weather.

Buckfield

The Buckfield Memorial Day parade will start at the Buckfield Municipal Center at 9 a.m. Monday, May 31, marching to the village square. Speaker at the World War II Memorial will be Timothy Cooper.

Parade members will load onto school buses and ride to the Buckfield-Damon Cemetery where a service will be held at a veteran’s grave. Buses will return parade members back to the municipal center.

Jay

Livermore Falls

Fayette

Ceremonies and parades on Memorial Day in Jay, Livermore Falls and Fayette begin with a lineup at 6:30 a.m. Monday, May 31, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Jay.

7 a.m. at the Livermore Falls Memorial Bridge with the ceremony led by the AMVETS; 7:30 a.m. at the Livermore Veterans Memorial with the ceremony led by the American Legion; 8 a.m. at Jay Hill; 8:20 a.m. at the Jay POW/MIA Bridge with the ceremony led by the VFW.

9 to 10 a.m. Parade line up at the MEMCO Building; 10 a.m. Parade starts with the following ceremonies held during the parade: Chisholm Square WW2 Monument with Program and Ceremony by the American Legion, Richardson Cemetery Monument with the ceremony by the VFW; Grand Army of the Republic Monument with the ceremony by the American Legion; WW2 and WW1 Monument in Livermore Falls Park with the program and ceremony led by the Knights of Columbus.

12:15 p.m. Fayette Veterans Memorial with the ceremony by the American Legion and 12:45 p.m. Wreath laying at Post 3335.

Monday, May 31, parade begins at 2 p.m. at town hall and marches to the library where a service will be held, then marches back to the town hall. The Old Crow Band from Farmington will perform.

Kingfield

Monday, May 31, A memorial service begins at 9 a.m. at the American Legion monument at corner of Depot and Main Streets.

Phillips

Monday, May 31, Parade on Main Street begins at 11 a.m. and goes from the bank to the monument.

Andover

Andover will hold a Memorial Day Service Monday, May 31, at 9 a.m. at the Town Common.
