LEWISTON – Rene D. Cote, 99, formerly of 625 Sabattus St. and for the past 13 years at Intown Manor, died Saturday at Marshwood Center for Health Care & Rehabilitation after a two week stay.
Born in Wottonville P.Q. Canada Oct. 29, 1904, a son of Wilfred and Leonie Begin Cote. He was educated in Canadian schools. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1926 to 1946, serving during World War II. He later worked at Bates Mfg. Co. as a night watchmen until his retirement.
He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Union St. Jean Baptiste, Ordre de Forestier, Holy Name Society of St. Peter & Paul’s Parish, Cercle Missionaire and St. Therese Association.
He is survived by nieces, Pauline Cote Roy, Rita and Henry Paul Cote, Rolande and Ernest Provencher and nephew Laurent and Ruth Cote.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Alice, Cecile Cote and Antoinette Cloutier and his brothers, Gabriel, Fernand, Camille and Roland Cote.
