WATERFORD – A Waterford mother has asked police to help her locate her 16-year-old daughter, who took off with her prom date three weeks ago and hasn’t been home since.

Candice M. Ward, a student at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, is believed to be traveling with Travis Justin Wilson, 20, who was her date on prom night May 15, said Capt. James P. Miclon of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

Ward left a note for her mother, Bethany Lyon of 331 Bear Pond Road, which said “that she needed some time to work things out and would come home when she was ready,” Miclon said.

Miclon said Ward called her mother May 21, but has not been heard from since. She is believed to be traveling with Wilson, possibly riding in a blue 1993 Ford Escort with Maine license plate 2164LT.

Ward is 6-feet tall, weighs about 150, and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information about Ward’s whereabouts is asked to call Miclon at 743-9554 or the department’s anonymous tip line at 1-800-733-1421.
