FAYETTE – Voters will consider 67 articles during their annual town meeting Saturday, June 12.

Elections will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at Starling Hall. The town meeting will reconvene at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at Fayette Central School. Voters will see no new requests this year.

The Fayette school budget has risen 6.61 percent to $926,266.59, while the municipal budget has decreased .36 percent to $364,056. That is $1,301 less than last year. The school budget represents 66.37 percent of the total budget.

Town Manager Jim Collins said the county tax has risen 32 percent over the past two years. This year it has risen 13.55 percent to $105,187. That means a total increase in the budget of 5.18 percent.

Voters will be asked to take $52,500 from the school surplus account to help fund the school budget. Voters will also be asked to take $110,000 from the town’s surplus account and appropriate town revenue to help reduce the tax commitment.

This year three residents are running for two open seats on the Board of Selectmen. Incumbents Nancy Baker and Thomas Mitchell and Abigail Holman are vying for the three-year positions. Three people are also running for two open seats on the Fayette School Committee.Incumbent Elaine Wilcox, Rhonda Bryant and Gregory Simoneau are running for those three-year posts.
