FARMINGTON – SAD 9 directors have voted to expel a middle school student who allegedly has a history of assaultive behavior violating district policies. The board concluded that expulsion of the student was necessary for the peace and usefulness of the Mount Blue Middle School when they held a disciplinary hearing Tuesday.
Though the student and parents had been notified of the hearing, they were not in attendance, according to minutes of the meeting.
The student had an “extensive” disciplinary record of assaultive behavior, which resulted in a meeting with the superintendent in April.
The minutes state the student had had multiple suspensions and engaged in fighting, which violated district policies stated in the school handbook.
The Pupil Evaluation Team had determined that the conduct was not a “manifestation of his learning disability” and that he understood the consequences of his actions, including a new assault on another student, the minutes state.
0• Proof of attendance at and successful completion of an anger management course.
• A statement from medical personnel that the student is taking his medication regularly.
