SOUTH PARIS – Stanley Earle Smith, 70, of South Paris died unexpectedly Saturday, June 5, at his home.

He was born Dec. 20, 1933 the son of Ralph and Alice Gammon Smith. Stanley was a lifelong resident of Paris, graduating from Paris High School in 1951 and immediately enlisting in the Army. He served for 12 years as a helicopter mechanic during the Korean Conflict. After the military he helped his father operate Smiths Service Station in Market Square for many years. Stanley was a devoted outsdoorsman and a loving family man.

Survivors include sister, Patricia Pearson of Springfield, Va.; five children, Evon Smith of Las Vegas, Nev., Lorie Shelley of Sacramento, Calif., Mark Smith of South Paris, Jade Wilkinson of Wash. and Heidi Bennett of Bennington, N.H.; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his brother, Vernon R. Smith of West Paris.
