LIVERMORE FALLS – Police are investigating abuse of a 2-year-old girl taken to a Farmington hospital with serious injuries and then transferred to a Portland hospital.
Maine State Police, Livermore Falls police and the Department of Human Services are involved in the investigation, state police Sgt. Walter Grzyb said.
Initially the child was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital Thursday night “with pretty serious injuries,” then transferred to Maine Medical Center, Grzyb said.
DHS contacted Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr., and the Police Department’s child abuse/sexual assault investigator, Heidi Gould, was assigned the case. Because of the seriousness of the injuries, the state police were called in Friday morning to assist in the investigation, Grzyb said.
No charges had been filed as of Monday.
